An Educational Website With a Custom Mentoring Portal

Floretika is a website dedicated to healthy eating, conscious living, and the connection between people and nature. Through educational pages, blog articles, and free PDF guides, it makes topics related to food, health, and the environment easier to understand and explore.

The website was developed primarily in English, with a Serbian version available as well. The examples shown in this case study feature the English version.

Alongside the public website, we developed a custom platform for online mentoring, appointment scheduling, and personalized quizzes and forms. Sladjana, Floretika’s owner, carefully wrote the questions and materials, and we implemented them within the platform.

The mentoring section is currently hidden from the public website because Sladjana is not accepting new participants at this time. The custom functionality remains part of the project and can support the program when she is ready to reopen enrollment.

Project Goals

A Bilingual Educational Website With Room for Personalized Mentoring

The main goal was to provide useful, free educational content about healthy eating, our relationship with nature, and everyday choices that affect health and the environment. The website covers topics such as food systems, forest conservation, the modern food industry, animal welfare, and food ethics.

Alongside these educational pages, the project needed a blog that could explore related topics, share new information, and encourage readers to think about how their choices affect the world around them.

The website also needed free downloadable PDF guides and full support for English and Serbian.

Another important part of the original project was online education. Instead of a traditional course built around prerecorded video lessons, the approach focused on mentoring and active participation through quizzes, questionnaires, and forms.

These materials were designed to help the mentor understand each participant’s habits, goals, and needs. A dedicated client portal would keep their responses, educational materials, and progress organized in one place.

The content and mentoring approach came from Sladjana. Our role was to turn that approach into a practical system that could support the way she wanted to work with participants.

Project Challenges

Bringing Educational Content, a Blog, and a Mentoring Portal Together

One of the biggest challenges was combining a content-rich website, a blog, and an online mentoring system into a clear and practical whole. The original structure needed to accommodate a large amount of free content while also explaining the mentoring programs without making the website difficult to use.

English was established as the primary language, with Serbian as the secondary version. With so much content and different types of visitors, the site structure needed careful planning to keep navigation simple.

The most demanding part was the educational portal. A standard learning management system did not fit the project’s requirements, so we developed a custom solution through a WordPress plugin.

The portal was built around two membership levels: free and paid. The free membership flow provided access to introductory forms that helped the mentor learn about participants and their habits, goals, and expectations. Once mentoring was activated, participants could access the mentor’s calendar and schedule online sessions.

A major part of the work involved organizing the forms and the information collected through them. Sladjana’s questionnaires were specific to her program, so the system needed to support her process rather than force it into a standard course format.

We built an interface where the mentor could assign forms, review responses, and see each participant’s information and educational activity in a logical order.

The project also required private messaging between the mentor and participants. Keeping these conversations inside the portal made it possible to connect communication with the program itself.

Another requirement was automatic notifications when forms were assigned or completed. We implemented a custom notification system within WordPress to support that workflow.

These features were developed as part of the platform, even though the mentoring section is currently not publicly available.

Website Design

A Minimal Design Inspired by Nature and Learning

The visual direction needed to communicate calm, a connection with nature, and a sense of trust. The website had to feel modern and easy to navigate without aggressive elements or unnecessary visual distractions.

We paid particular attention to the photography and illustrations. After exploring several directions, we chose AI-generated illustrations that were carefully styled to feel natural and consistent throughout the website. The goal was to create visuals that resembled illustrations from educational books and contemporary wellness publications.

Pastel colors, generous white space, and serif headings helped create a calm, warm visual identity that suited the content.

Throughout the design process, the focus stayed on readability and a comfortable browsing experience. We wanted people to spend time with the content, move between related topics, and explore the website without feeling overwhelmed.

Website Features

Educational Content and a Custom Client Portal

The project went beyond presenting information. It included the development of an educational website with custom tools for mentoring, scheduling, and communication.

The public website brings together educational pages and categories about healthy eating, conscious living, and our connection with nature. A dedicated blog provides space for ongoing articles and related topics.

We also created pages for downloading free PDF guides and additional educational materials. The website supports both English and Serbian, with English as the primary language.

The most complex part of the build was the client portal and mentoring system. We developed a workflow for free registration, introductory forms, and the later activation of paid mentoring and consultation scheduling.

The portal’s implemented features include:

  • User registration and login
  • User account management
  • Form assignment and saved responses
  • Custom quizzes and questionnaires
  • Private communication between the mentor and participants
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Online payments
  • Access to educational materials
  • User activity tracking

The quizzes and forms were based on material carefully written by Sladjana for her own mentoring process. We implemented the questions, response handling, and assignment workflow within the platform so the system could support her individual approach.

We also paid attention to security and the platform’s legal requirements. The project included connected Terms of Use and Privacy Policy pages, along with a way for participants to digitally accept an agreement before purchasing the educational program.

The entire system was developed with straightforward navigation and responsive layouts for phones and tablets.

The mentoring features are currently hidden from the public website while new enrollment is paused. This reflects the owner’s current availability; it does not change the scope of the custom system developed for the project.

SEO and Performance

A Clear Structure for Speed, Usability, and Organic Growth

The website was developed as part of our Pro SEO website package, with the educational portal added to meet the project’s specific requirements.

From the beginning, the structure needed to support educational pages, blog content, and the mentoring section without making the site difficult to navigate. We organized the content to give public pages a solid foundation for organic search visibility and future growth.

Our main priorities were:

  • Fast page loading
  • A mobile-first approach
  • Optimization across a large number of English and Serbian pages
  • A clear hierarchy of content and categories
  • Technical SEO
  • Consistent navigation across different types of content

Because the project included a custom portal and several connected user workflows, we also paid close attention to the performance of those features. The platform needed to remain stable and responsive as users moved between forms, messages, educational materials, and appointment scheduling.

The Result

A Content-Focused Website With a Foundation for Future Mentoring

Floretika received a modern bilingual website that brings educational content, a blog, and free resources together, supported by a custom mentoring system developed around the owner’s needs.

The public website currently focuses on the content Sladjana is ready to share, while the mentoring section remains hidden until she is ready to accept new participants.

The project also established a foundation for future marketing through organic search, paid campaigns, and lead generation. The build included newsletter signup options, free content downloads, and a registration flow for the mentoring program, with the mentoring entry points currently kept out of the public experience.

When the program reopens, the introductory forms and questionnaires can help Sladjana understand participants before recommending a personalized mentoring approach.

The result is a website that supports the business at its current stage while preserving the custom functionality developed for its next steps. The blog can continue to grow, new educational resources can be added, and the mentoring platform can return to public use when the owner is ready.
